The Science Day of the European Metropolitan Region Nuremberg (EMN) is a key event of the EMN’s Forum for Science. Each year, around 600 to 900 participants attend, including representatives from academia, industry, politics, administration and education. High-level panel discussions, specialist presentations and a diverse supporting programme provide insights into current research findings and highlight the performance of the regional scientific landscape. In 2015 and 2024, the Science Day took place at Hof University of Applied Sciences with the support of the Wilo-Foundation.

Science Day 2024 in Hof: Resources and future security

On 19 July 2024, the Science Day of the Metropolitan Region Nuremberg was hosted at Hof University of Applied Sciences. Under the motto “Resources for tomorrow and today – a roadmap for a secure future”, participants discussed current issues relating to resource efficiency, sustainability and innovation.

Representatives from academia, industry and politics highlighted the region’s innovative strength and outlined pathways towards a more sustainable future. The event was hosted by Hof University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Bavaria, together with the City of Hof and the districts of Hof and Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge region.

The Wilo-Foundation once again provided financial support for the Science Day 2024, continuing its long-standing commitment to promoting science at Hof University of Applied Sciences and its regional responsibility.

Science Day 2015 in Hof: Focus on knowledge transfer

Under the motto “Knowledge transfer. regional – national – international”, the 9th Science Day of the European Metropolitan Region Nuremberg took place at Hof University of Applied Sciences on 27 July 2015. More than 700 participants, including renowned decision-makers from academia, industry, politics, administration and education, gathered in Hof.

The Wilo-Foundation supported the organisation of the annual event financially. Hof University of Applied Sciences has long been one of its key funding partners, particularly within the framework of the Germany Scholarship Programme.

Together with other regional institutions, Hof University of Applied Sciences used the Science Day to showcase the site’s supra-regional scientific potential. Under the guidance of distinguished guest speakers, various megatrends were discussed and examined from different academic perspectives.

Our funding partner

The Science Day is held once a year by the Forum Wissenschaft of the funding partner Kulturidee GmbH, Nuremberg, one of the specialist forums of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. The event has already taken place in Hof twice and brings together the region’s scientific expertise. At the same time, the Science Day provides an ideal opportunity to connect participants from across the metropolitan region and foster dialogue.
