Science for the future

Sustainability, environmental issues and, above all, the responsible use of water resources are our key funding priorities (in addition to engineering sciences, technology and digitality) in the area of science and research.

Empowering young people is particularly important to us, for instance by sponsoring scholarships and providing grants for international field trips, summer schools and scientific conferences, or by awarding prizes for outstanding academic achievements. We also support initiatives that foster competencies in digital technologies and artificial intelligence and advance the understanding of their potential contribution to society.

In addition, we provide financial support for scientific studies and symposiums on sustainability issues that will shape the future: from climate protection and issues of water and other natural resources up to questions relating to urbanisation and urban society.

Current projects

The international challenge for students, which is hosted by DWA, brings together water engineering talents from all over the world and gives them an unique opportunity to build networks with leading experts from the water sector while they are still at university.

To date, the Wilo-Foundation has awarded nearly 1,500 scholarships, primarily in the Ruhr region and Upper Franconia, making it one of the largest supporters of the Germany Scholarship Program.
