Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees consists of five persons. In keeping with the founder’s explicit wish, it comprises both members of the founding family and external experts. Dr.-Ing. h.c. Jochen Opländer (founder), Oliver Hermes (Chairman of the board of trustees), Dr.-Ing. Hinrich Mählmann, Jan Opländer and lawyer Lars Roßner.

In April 2019, Oliver Hermes became Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Wilo-Foundation, after having been appointed as successor of the business by Dr.-Ing. h.c. Jochen Opländer earlier that year.

Executive Board and Team

The Executive Board is responsible for ensuring the consistent and sustainable implementation of the foundation’s aim and the founder’s will, in keeping with the German Law of Foundations and the foundation charter. It currently has two members: David Höltgen (social engagement) and Wolfgang Mertineit (finance).

The foundation's social commitment is internationally orientated. A team is responsible for the conception, organisation and support of the funding projects and cooperation with NGOs and networks in the region and worldwide.

Executive Board | Finances

Wolfgang Mertineit has supported the Wilo-Foundation since it was established in 2011 and was appointed to the Foundation's Executive Board in 2016. He is primarily responsible for financial planning and accounting as well as asset management and controlling.

Executive Board | Social Engagement

David Höltgen was appointed to the Executive Board of the Wilo-Foundation at the end 2025 and has since been responsible, among other duties, for the global social engagement of the family foundation as well as the activities of the non-profit WILO-Stiftung.

Christina Lorenz Porträt

Christina Lorenz

Working Student

Christina Lorenz has been working as a working student at the Wilo-Foundation since 2024. She supports the team in particular in the editorial maintenance of the website and in the administration of the foundation’s donations for local initiatives and volunteering. In addition, she organizes the foundation events i.e. for scholarship holders.
