Funding period: 2018-2019

The Water Youth Network (WYN) is committed to connecting young people and youth organisations with policymakers through targeted initiatives that promote the exchange of knowledge and experience. In this way, innovative projects by young people are to be developed and the financial resources needed to implement them identified. The goal of the Water Youth Network is to foster partnerships across disciplines and generations within the water sector.

Among the active members are students from the Faculty of Spatial Planning at TU Dortmund University. Through the international SPRING Master’s programme and funding for specialist excursions, there had already been contact with the foundation. In terms of content, WYN works on the topics of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) and Water Governance. Thanks to the financial support of the Wilo-Foundation, a total of ten WYN students from Africa, Asia, Europe and South America were able to take part in SIWI World Water Week in Stockholm in 2018 and 2019, present their specialist contributions in numerous sessions and discuss them with experts.
