WASH Initiative by UNICEF

Hygiene training, ensuring basic sanitation, and water supply were the core themes of UNICEF's support for Azerbaijan and Egypt.

Considering that well over a billion people do not have access to sufficient drinking water and at least twice as many globally lack adequate basic sanitation, the Wilo-Foundation made a donation to support UNICEF's campaign, which encompassed WASH projects (Water Sanitation & Hygiene) in Egypt and Azerbaijan.

UNICEF Egypt pursued two main objectives with its WASH projects: providing people with clean water through direct pipelines to their homes and promoting awareness of hygiene and responsible water use among the population and at local schools.

Similarly, UNICEF in Azerbaijan was committed to improving water supply and hygiene conditions. The children's aid organization focused particularly on local schools by enhancing water supply and providing modern sanitary facilities. Additionally, children and adolescents were trained in everyday hygiene and sanitation practices.

The Wilo-Foundation has been actively involved in various water projects worldwide from the very beginning. At UNICEF, the foundation supported the "Water Works" campaign of the Dortmund working group with a donation for a WASH project in Cambodia at the start of its funding activities.
