F20 Climate Solutions Forum

The F20 Climate Solutions Forum (CSF) is the annual main event of the Foundations Platform F20, an alliance of around 80 philanthropic foundations from the G20 countries. The aim of the forum is to make concrete climate and sustainability solutions more visible in the G20 process and to advance them.

Foundations 20 (F20) is a network of more than 80 foundations and philanthropic organizations worldwide that support environmental issues. Since 2021, the Wilo-Foundation has also been part of its exclusive circle of members. As the G20 countries are considered key players in achieving global climate goals and limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, F20 calls on private, environmentally focused foundations from G20 countries to work together on climate and biodiversity issues, as well as for a just transition.

The F20 Climate Solutions Forum (CSF) is the annual conference of the F20 network, held each year in the country hosting the G20 summit. In addition to the choice of CSF venue, the topics are also strategically aligned with the respective G20 presidency. This high-level international platform serves as a cross-border exchange for foundations. In the run-up to the G20 summit, recommendations are developed together, amplifying the voice of private foundations and focusing in particular on transformation and the challenges in the areas of climate, biodiversity, and food security—always in conjunction with capacity building and the development of long-term solutions.

Climate Solutions Forum 2025 in Cape Town

Under the motto “Trust. Transition. Transformation: Building Relationships for Climate Solidarity,” the CSF 2025 took place in Cape Town, South Africa. On the first day, the focus was on building trust and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. On the second day, tools and approaches were explored that drive meaningful progress in the areas of energy, agriculture, and development cooperation.

For the first time, the Wilo-Foundation was a co-host of the global forum, where the food security support project in Kruger National Park - funded by the Wilo-Foundation through the Global Nature Fund - was presented by the local South African project partner, Wild Impact.

In addition, the foundation enabled five young South African participants from its supported Incubation Program (“Umthombo”) on water and social entrepreneurship in South Africa to attend the CSF in Cape Town by providing them with a travel scholarship.

Climate Solutions Forum 2024 in Rio de Janeiro

As part of the Climate Solutions Forum 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Wilo-Foundation supported, as a partner, a contribution from the global initiative "Plant for the Planet" as an accompanying environmental education program for children and young people, in collaboration with local schools.

In light of the significance of the events leading up to the G20 summit, the voices of children were also included at the F20 CSF.
