Following the catastrophic explosion in the port of Beirut on August 4, 2020, a long-standing partner of the Wilo-Foundation, arche noVa – Initiative für Menschen in Not e.V., Dresden (Germany), actively engaged in emergency relief activities in the city. The incident severely damaged infrastructure — particularly the port facilities, through which a large portion of consumer goods enter the country, as well as housing in the surrounding area.

To meet the urgent need for toilets and showers in emergency shelters in Beirut at the time, the Wilo-Foundation provided a donation to arche noVa. This funding was used to equip shelters for 3,000 people with mobile sanitation and washing facilities over a period of two months. During the emergency relief operation, arche noVa collaborated with the Lebanese Red Cross, which coordinated and carried out the distribution of hygiene kits, supporting people who had lost their homes and were dependent on shelter in emergency tents with basic supplies.
