New boats for rowing talents in Laval

The rowing club “Club Nautique Aviron de Laval” (CNLA), based in Laval, France, is renowned for its young rowing talents. To create optimal conditions for supporting youth rowing, the Wilo-Foundation sponsored the acquisition of new boats.

Due to the long-standing tradition within the founding family, the Wilo-Foundation's sports funding is primarily dedicated to elite rowing. In particular, young rowers are to be given the opportunity to develop their outstanding talent through this support.

In addition to its main commitment to the youth of Team Deutschland-Achter in Dortmund, the foundation also supported the local rowing club “Club Nautique Aviron de Laval” (CNLA) at Wilo’s French company site in Laval, in the Pays de la Loire region.

The traditional rowing club looks back on a history spanning more than 100 years. The adjacent Mayenne River offers excellent training conditions for the club’s active members. A large proportion of the rowers are under the age of 20, which makes targeted support especially important. Some of CNLA’s young talents are already competing in regional, national, and international competitions. To improve training conditions for the youth, the Wilo-Foundation provided financial support for the purchase of new rowing boats for the young athletes.

Our funding partner

The Mayenne River in Laval offers ideal conditions for rowing. The local rowing club, Club Nautique Laval Aviron (CNLA), can look back on a history of more than one hundred years and is distinguished by various international successes, a high proportion of talented young rowers, and a female membership rate of nearly 40 percent.
