David Höltgen was appointed to the Executive Board of the Wilo-Foundation at the end of 2025. In this role, he is responsible, among other things, for the global social engagement of the internationally active family foundation as well as the charitable WILO-Stiftung.

After completing his studies in communication sciences (Master of Arts; previously B.A. in Communication Studies and History), he began his professional career in the international start-up sector at foodora GmbH, where he served as Regional Manager Marketing & Sales and gained early experience in a dynamic and internationally oriented business environment.

In 2017, he transitioned into the philanthropic sector and took over as Head of Communications at today’s well:fair Foundation (formerly the Neven Subotic Foundation) in Dortmund. In this role, he repeatedly accompanied the implementation and further development of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) projects in East Africa, gaining extensive insights into international development cooperation as well as sustainable infrastructure and education projects.

Since joining the Wilo-Foundation in 2021, David Höltgen has continuously expanded his international engagement. He regularly represents the foundation at international conferences, dialogue platforms, and networking events — including as a moderator, speaker, or panelist — with a particular focus on future-oriented topics at the intersection of water, sustainability, education, innovation, and societal transformation.
