The Exclusive Artists series, introduced in 2006, features a young, internationally renowned artist from today’s music scene. He or she then has a three-year residency at the Konzerthaus Dortmund. This extended period gives the artists an opportunity to make a real impact and build a strong relationship with the Konzerthaus, laying the foundation for cooperation over the long term. In recent years, the Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Latvian conductor Andris Nelsons and the Lithuanian conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla were among the Exclusive Artists who came to Dortmund and performed at the Konzerthaus with various orchestras, ensembles and programmes over a period of three years. All of these artists still have close ties with the Konzerthaus.

Israeli conductor and pianist Lahav Shani brought his three-year residency (2022–2025) to a magnificent close with Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony. Marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the war on May 11, 2025, he united his Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic for a powerful performance of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony, creating an impressive ensemble of international understanding.

Beginning with the 2025/26 season, Finnish conductor and pianist Tarmo Peltokoski will serve as Dortmund’s new exclusive artist for three seasons. With the support of the Wilo-Foundation, he will showcase the impressive breadth of his artistry in a variety of concerts at the Konzerthaus.
