Taking responsibility

The social engagement of the Opländer founding family has been firmly enshrined in the charter of the Wilo-Foundation since 2011. It is a central element of the family foundation’s work and vision and keeps evolving over time as the social and technological environment changes. Through its funding activities, the foundation empowers young talents, strengthens livelihoods and connects people, ideas and institutions. The founding family has close ties with its home town of Dortmund and the people living there, and also supports projects worldwide in locations where Wilo operates.

F20 Climate Solutions Forum

The F20 Climate Solutions Forum (CSF) is the annual main event of the Foundations Platform F20, an alliance of around 80 philanthropic foundations from the G20 countries. The aim of the forum is to make concrete climate and sustainability solutions more visible in the G20 process and to advance them.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Founding family and succession

The Wilo Group, now in its fifth generation, has always been working toward one objective: making people’s lives easier, everywhere. This mission is deeply rooted in the tradition of the Opländer family of entrepreneurs and is now being continued by Oliver Hermes as President & Global CEO of the Wilo Group.

Our history

Our funding areas

The foundation wants to give back to society and supports projects in the areas of science, education & social affairs, culture and sport. Three impact areas – Creating, Caring and Connecting – provide the strategic framework for our funding: we empower young people, strengthen livelihoods and bring together people, ideas and institutions.

We believe that digital transformation and artificial intelligence are key issues of the future and essential drivers of transformation, which are increasingly shaping all three impact areas. Our most important funding areas include the responsible use of water resources, climate action, future skills and (social) entrepreneurship.
