Data protection provisions and data security

Data protection

1. General policy
The Wilo-Foundation (“the Foundation”) takes the privacy of your personal data very seriously and acts accordingly when handling any data within its IT system. Whenever we receive or use personal data by the methods described below, we do so in accordance with the Federal Data Protection Act.

2. Use of the website
You may use our entire website without having to disclose any personal data. We only see the name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP), the website from which you accessed our site and the individual pages you visit.

3. Cookies and IP addresses
We use cookies in some areas of our website. A cookie is a small text file generated by a website and stored locally on the hard drive of the visitor. We never use cookies to store personal information about you. We use them only to simplify your visit to our site and to determine the number of hits we receive. Such technical access data cannot be used to identify a particular person; the identities of individual users are not revealed during this process. No other personal data such as the name, address, phone number or e-mail address of the user is captured, unless you voluntarily provide such details yourself.
Every hit is automatically registered by the website, including the IP address or domain name of the visitor and the particular page or pages accessed. The IP address is a series of numbers assigned to your computer for the purpose of accessing the internet. Every computer using the internet is identified via an IP address that allows computers and servers to recognise and communicate with each via the internet. The Foundation requires such information to monitor the use of our website by statistical methods. It allows us to keep extending and improving our internet service.
If you would like to be informed about the use of cookies by your browser, you can adjust your browser settings accordingly. You can also prevent the installation of such cookies by choosing the appropriate setting. However, we should point out that not all functions of this website will work to their full extent without cookies.

4. Security
The Foundation has technical and organisational security measures in place to protect any personal data we administer from accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, damage or access by unauthorised people. Our security measures are constantly updated in line with the latest technological advances. If you have any questions about the way your personal data is handled, please do not hesitate to contact our data protection officer(s).

At the time any such links were added to our website, no illegal material was discernible on the websites concerned. However, it is not possible for us to undertake constant monitoring of these sites, or to act without specific evidence that a law has been contravened. Should we become aware of any such infringement, however, we will immediately remove the relevant link from our website. Please be aware that the Foundation is not responsible for the privacy of data contained on the hyperlinked websites of third parties.
