Exhibition: “China – Germany: Abstract Painting today!”
As part of the Chinese Cultural Year in Germany 2012 to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and China, the Caspar Ludwig Opländer Foundation hosted the exhibition “China – Germany: Abstract Painting today” – on Wilo company premises – in Dortmund (June-October) and in Beijing (October-December).
Abstract works by the following Chinese and German artists were exhibited: Chen Qiang, Chen Ruobing, Liang Quan, Ma Shuqing, Shen Chen, Xu Ruotao, Yin Ge, Zhou Yangming, Rolf Behm, Dirk Hupe, Michael Jäger, Hartwig Kompa, Willi Otremba, Eberhard Ross, Susanne Stähli and Frank Michael Zeidler.
Guests and guest speakers at the official opening ceremony included Oliver Hermes, CEO of WILO SE, Wang Xiting, Vice Consul General of the People’s Republic of China and Zhang Liwu, Consul for Cultural Affairs at the Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt/Main, Ullrich Sierau, Lord Mayor of the City of Dortmund, Dr. Michael Kahn-Ackermann, long-standing Regional Manager of the Goethe-Institut in China and representative of the Mercator Foundation, as well as gallery owner Frank Schlag.

This gallery, founded in 1998 and known as the Galerie Frank Schlag & Cie., represents artists from Europe, China, Japan and the USA. Its main focus is on contemporary painting and sculpture. Ever since 1998, several exhibitions a year have been held in the exhibition rooms of this gallery.
